About Frances Brown Cerniglia:
Frances Brown Cerniglia has been an educator for over twenty seven years. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Nursery School through Sixth Grade Education, with an emphasis in Developmental Child Psychology. Having been certified to teach in the State of Florida, with an endorsement in gifted education, she taught for several years in the Palm Beach County School District and then later in Lee County.
After having her first child in 1995, Mrs. Cerniglia changed her focus to Early Childhood Education. She accepted a position as an Executive Director with a family-owned and operated mega-preschool center. Mrs. Cerniglia spent the next ten years developing her faculty of over ninety educators and working with over five hundred children and their families annually. In 2000, a leading public corporate childcare provider acquired this preschool center. Mrs. Cerniglia assisted with the transition and in 2004 was promoted to Regional Manager overseeing three large community based preschool centers. As a leader in the industry, Frances Cerniglia was recruited by Palm Beach Community College to teach the Child Development Associate Program, as well as the Child Care Center Management Class.
In 2005, she relocated to Southwest Florida, where she now resides with her husband and their three children in Fort Myers. In 2008, Mrs. Cerniglia opened BROWN Academy, a full service premier early childhood center. She led a team of forty eight early childhood educators and provided quality programs for over two hundred and seventy five children and their families annually. Mrs. Cerniglia served on the Advisory Committee for the Early Childhood Education Program at Fort Myers Institute of Technology (formally Lee County High Tech Central) from 2009 to 2016 and she was the Chairperson for the 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years. In addition, from 2015-2017, she served as a business partner on the School Advisory Council (SAC) at Gateway Elementary School.
Frances Cerniglia is very passionate about early childhood education and is committed to excellence in the early childhood field! Thus, recognizing that parents are their children's first and most important teachers, after selling her school in May of 2017, she began a parent coach certification program under the direction of John Rosemond. Mrs. Cerniglia is working to earn her certification by the spring of 2018 so that she can continue to serve as a mentor and support to parents and their children.
